The ambitious goal set for 2030 is to achieve universal access to electricity. However, connecting 100 million people annually through centralized energy networks is not only challenging but also expensive and slow. SolarVille showcased how the synergistic combination of solar panels, microgrids, and blockchain technology can efficiently empower rural communities, moving them out of energy poverty and ensuring a brighter, sustainable future. With a working prototype built to a 1:50 scale, SolarVille was not just a concept but a tangible representation of a self-sufficient community microgrid.
